Like the apostle Paul, the “care of the churches” comes upon them daily. They share a special burden for our smallerchurches and their ministers. That’s why they said we needed this book.It is not a book of theory. It is, rather, a book of a practical ideas drawn from my years in the trenches and from talking to hundreds of pastors who labor there daily. It is written to encourage, to inspire, to motivate the big people who serve in little places. Little, of course, is a relative term. Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. If such a great price was paid for the church, no one has a right to call any church small. Some are simply not as large as others.
